Fort Lauderdale Beach

Fort Lauderdale Beach stretches along the Atlantic coast between the ocean and the famous Intracoastal Waterway, fronted by the wide Las Olas Boulevard beach promenade. Atlantic tidal range is modest; low tide reveals a broader sandy expanse that's popular with volleyball players and joggers.

Atlantic tidal range of about 2.5–3 ft; low tide extends the sandy beach noticeably and is the best time for jogging, volleyball, and finding shells washed up overnight. Swimming is comfortable at mid tide with lifeguards in season; modest shore break is present; the jetties at Port Everglades inlet (about 1 mile south) are productive fishing spots at any tide, especially around current changes; shelling is minimal on the groomed beach. Local note: metered parking on A1A fills quickly on weekends; Las Olas Boulevard two blocks west has restaurants and boutiques; the beach promenade is heavily used by joggers and cyclists year-round.
